CCSI Toolset Receives 2016 R&D 100 Award

The Carbon Capture Simulation Initiative (CCSI) Toolset received a 2016 R&D 100 Award on November 3rd in Oxon Hill, MD. The R&D 100 Awards, known in the research community as the “Oscars of Invention,” identify and celebrate some of the best, game-changing technologies developed over the past year.

The CCSI Toolset gives the power industry a way of dramatically speeding up and reducing the risk in carbon capture technology development for application in power plants. The Toolset is the only suite of computational tools and models specifically tailored to help maximize learning and reduce risk during the scale-up process for carbon-capture technologies. Each module in the toolset is specifically tailored to properly guide experimental and pilot-scale testing to acquire important data. By maximizing learning during such pilot projects, the CCSI Toolset can help reduce the timeline and cost of subsequent commercialization and enable greater investment confidence.
