CCSI held its semi-annual Industry Advisory Board (IAB) Meeting

The NETL-led Carbon Capture Simulation Initiative (CCSI) met with eighteen members of its IAB representing 12 companies. The meeting focused on describing the technical accomplishments over the past 6 months, with an emphasis on the new capabilities of the upcoming release of the CCSI Toolset. The meeting began with a keynote talk by Acting Assistant Secretary for Coal, Dr. Darren Mollot, and was followed by a project overview and industry panel discussion. During the panel discussion, representatives from GE, Alstom, B&W, Fluor and ExxonMobil discussed their experiences with the CCSI Technical Team and their preparations to more widely utilize the Toolset over the next year. Several companies indicated that they have secured internal resources to support researchers to begin to use the tools, and Alstom indicated that it will be utilizing the CCSI Toolset as part of its current commercial development activities over the next 18 months. During the meeting, the IAB members interacted closely with the CCSI Technical Team to learn how to use the new tools and capabilities once the new release is finalized. The CCSI Toolset is currently licensed by 5 companies: GE, Alstom, Phillips66, B&W, and Chevron. The technical team includes researchers at NETL, LANL, LBNL, LLNL, PNNL, Carnegie Mellon U., West Virginia U., Princeton U., Boston U., and the University of Texas.
